OPTICAL NETWORKS AND COMPONENTS
There is a vast range of optical networks, from multi-stage space and wavelength switches within optical switch nodes, e.g. optical cross-connects, through PONs (passive optical networks), WDM PONs, WDM networks and WDMA/TDMA networks to optical packet networks (including burst-mode). Applications range from LAN, access and metro to core. The range of techniques and issues is far too large to mention specifics here. Please refer to publications by Alan Hill and publications by TimeWave Networks for references. All techniques and issues are of interest to TimeWave Networks.

Components TimeWave Networks is able to draw upon research experience in optical components such as connectors, switches, wavelength multiplexers, tunable lasers and tunable filters for researching into optical components for both telecommunications and non-telecommunications applications.
