PROJECT MANAGEMENT

For Project Proposers

TimeWave Networks can help to establish your research project and manage it for you. We build upon experience gained in both collaborative and in-house projects with a major telecommunications operator, prior to the creation of TimeWave Networks. We can help you to find potential partners, prepare project proposals, negotiate with funding agencies, prepare Technical Annexes etc. We will manage any aspect of your project, from overall management and/or technical leadership of the entire project, through workpackage leadership, management of one partner's activities to technical consultancy.

For Funding Agencies

TimeWave Networks can assist funding agencies to carry out their Project Assessment and Technical Auditing procedures.

Collaborative Project Experience:

Negotiation and management of BT’s activities in 5th Framework IST project “DAVID” (major partner Alcatel), investigating the potential of optical packet switching in metropolitan and backbone networks (emphasis on IP and MPLS over optical WDM packets).

System studies workpackage leader within the ACTS project “SONATA” (major partners CSELT, Thomson CSF, ETH Zurich), as well as management of BT's activities. SONATA envisaged a single-layer optical transport network encompassing all concentration, distribution, transmission, switching and routing functions within a national network (ie replacing legacy platforms such as PSTN, ATM, SDH).

Establishment and technical leadership of the ACTS project "WOTAN" (major partners GPT, GMMT now Marconi), as well as management of BT's activities. WOTAN investigated an integrated approach to the use of wavelength agile and wavelength routing techniques across both access and core networks; successor to RACE II projects “MWTN” and “MUNDI”.

Management of BT’s activities in the RACE II project "MUNDI" (major partners Siemens, Deutsche Telekom) for fibre-to-the-home and fibre-to-the-building, dealing with the broadband upgrade of telephony passive optical networks (TPON to BPON) by WDM.

Management of BT’s activities in LINK project “FINESSE”, developing tunable optical filters using liquid crystals and diffraction gratings.
